Health Insurer Code of Conduct
Reflecting the urgency of the need for physician leadership in the ongoing reform activities at the state and national levels, at the OMA’s 137th House of Delegates meeting in 2011, OMA physicians formally adopted the AMA’s
Health Insurer Code of Conduct, which tags health insurers with guidelines for specific practices, including cancellation and rescission; medical loss ratios; respectful relations with patients and physicians; and honoring physician discretion and professional judgment in ordering treatment, among several others.
