2016 Legislative End of Session Report

The OMA Government Relations team 2016 End of Session Report is here.

Here's a brief snapshot of what was accomplished this year:

  1. Passed Legislations Reducing Opioid Use in Oregon — Streamlined the use of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Database into existing health information technology and increased access to naloxone by allowing pharmacists to dispense a unit of use packages without a prescription.

  2. Stopped the Tripling of the Wrongful Death Cap — Halted the movement of a bill that would have changed the one and only cap in Oregon’s liability laws by increasing the wrongful death cap from $500,000 to $1.5 million, incentivizing lawsuits and decreasing the use of the Early Discussion and Resolution program. - See more at: http://www.theoma.org/node/5509#sthash.uZ8zXklL.dpuf
