OMA Policy and Support for State and Federal Legislation

The OMA reaffirms its current policy that the Association should adhere to the existing sunset mechanism to review policy actions older than 10 years, with periodic reports from the Where We Stand Task Force or an appropriate governance committee to the Speaker; that outdated position statements are of historical interest and should be included in OMA’s Where We Stood document; that while the Association’s support or opposition to individual legislation is not a matter of permanent policy, its position on legislation should be noted either in Where We Stand as a footnote to the appropriate policy position or referenced in other historical Association records; and that while Association policy may indicate a position on state or federal legislation, the Association’s support or opposition to specific legislation does not lead to permanent support or opposition of state or federal law.
