Medical Students

The OMA supports state and federal policies that will decrease the financial burden on new physicians and PAs as follows:

  1. Decrease tuition and overall medical and physician assistant student debt
  2. Decrease interest rates for educational loans.
  3. Allow for diverse repayment options.
  4. Eliminate the caps and limitations on educational loan interest deductibility.
  5. Seek and support other options within the state to decrease the financial burden of medical students.
  6. OMA shall convene a task force, which would report twice yearly to the Executive Committee, to address the issues listed in the comments section and bring those to the attention of those parties who can have an influence on student debt.

Adopted by the Board of Trustees, April 2013.
