Disaster Preparedness and Response
OMA will encourage our membership to become prepared personally and to prepare their office/business for all hazardous events (man-made or natural: biological, chemical, radiological, explosive, weather or earthquake). Additionally, we encourage them to participate in local community plans for such events and to attend exercises that test those plans.
OMA will encourage all members to find a role in a disaster response; that could be through their hospital, facility or employer, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), religious (faith-based) team. Additionally, we strongly encourage those with no current role to consider the Medical Reserve Corps as an option.
Finally, the OMA supports training opportunities that enhance community disaster response. We will encourage and will work with the Oregon Health Authority to enhance these training opportunities such as Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS) and Advance Disaster Life Support (ADLS) that provide skills-based learning.
Adopted by the Board of Trustees, June 2012.
