Traumatic Brain Injuries: “Minimal” through Concussion (a Spectrum)
a. We should be aware of guidelines for head/spinal injury prevention.
b. We should be aware of the guidelines for diagnosis and management of brain injury and especially immediate and sub-acute care of concussion.
c. This OMA policy covers all athletes of any age.
d. Links and point of service decision support tools e.g. smart phones will be posted on the OMA’s public web page.
Heat-Related Injuries - The OMA believes that as parents, grandparents, guardians, medical care providers, team coaches/personnel and spectators, physicians, physician assistants, other health care providers and alliance section members should be aware of the guidelines from the Oregon School Athletics Association for the prevention, diagnosis and management of heat/weather-related injuries in sports and other outdoor activities for all athletes of any age.
