OMA Statement on H.R. 1
8/13/2025
The Oregon Medical Association is deeply concerned about the impact on Oregonians' health care after the passage of H.R. 1. Dependable access to health care is critical for achieving better health outcomes. Any cuts to the Medicaid program will result in more Oregonians left uninsured or underinsured. This causes individuals to delay their health care needs, leading to more serious chronic conditions and increased costs to the health care system. This floods the capacity of the system with cases that might have been headed off with better access to preventative care. We will continue to actively review and monitor the implications of H.R. 1 to provide Oregon physicians and PAs with tools and resources to continue to provide high-quality care, especially for Oregon's most vulnerable patients.
