If Someone Has Been Exposed
People who were at an exposure location during specified dates and times should immediately contact their primary health care provider or other health care provider and let them know they may have been exposed to someone who has measles. People without a primary care provider can call 503-988-5558 to establish care at a Multnomah County primary care clinic or student health center (open to anyone ages 5-18).
Vaccinations
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends two doses of measles-containing vaccine (MMR or MMRV) for children, with the first dose at age 12 through 15 months and the second dose at age 4 through 6 years. Older children and adults should be vaccinated if they do not have evidence of immunity. Two doses of a measles-containing vaccine provides 97% efficacy for life.
The American Medical Association (AMA) offers guidance for clinicians on talking to patients about vaccinations.
