Fellowship (Unofficial)
OMA strongly suggested that the Oregon Health Sciences University consider opening a practical continuing medical education program that contains the following elements:
- A voluntary system whereby a physician could attend as an “unofficial fellow” a training session of one or more weeks in their specialty area;
- A system whereby that practitioner’s practice during said training session would be assumed by a resident, fellow or other qualified physician from the medical school; and
- That OHSU determine compensation to those in training, based on costs.
Adopted at the annual House of Delegates, 1997.
Reaffirmed at the annual House of Delegates, 2011.
