Hair Analysis
OMA agrees that use of hair analysis tests in the diagnosis of dietary deficiencies is scientifically unfounded and should be discouraged as a customary medical practice in this state, until such time as well-documented clinical research has been thoroughly developed in support of a contrary position. Until conclusive scientific research has been developed to support a valid relationship between hair analysis tests and the diagnoses of dietary deficiencies, patients should not be charged for such tests.
Adopted at the interim House of Delegates, 1975.
